Spring Break 06 - Family Style (episode 05)
Today was a much lower key day.
The kids went for a swim with Vicki and Winston in the pool here at the resort and managed to get about 3 shades darker than before they went into the water. They tan quickly, unlike their parents.
After the swim we headed out to the Premium Outlets in Carlsbad. It was pretty empty because this is a work week for everyone and we went in the middle of the afternoon. These outlets, while proffessing prices significantly lower than their full-priced counterparts, is still one of those places that makes you wish you were independently wealthy. I checked out the Kenneth Cole Outlet where they carried a bunch of snazzy, yet mundane shoes. There was nothing there that really wowed me - much like all the other Kenneth Cole outlets I've ever been to. The Cole Haan Outlet just across the way, however, had some really hot looking shoes. The cheapest pair I saw that was remotely cool was a paltry $275. Errr... no thanks.
After I bought nothing at the outlets we went to a Lexus dealership where we were mere inches away from a $40,000 impulse buy; the IS350. There is some more deliberating that we have to do before we make a purchase of that caliber, but I think we're getting close.Lastly, for dinner we ate at Chin's Palace where Winston apparently managed to hook us up through the owner of the chain when he chatted with him some weeks ago at a local Orange County In-And-Out. We got some free soup and really great service. The food was above average but not out-of-this-world. It was still very good, however. I'm still full from dinner - which was Win's treat - even as I type this.
