Spring Break - Family Style (episode 03)

We’re in San Diego now. I’m currently just outside the lobby of the timeshare near the pool. We’re right near Camp Pendleton – actually a little closer than I want to be.
As we exited the I-5 south, the Yahoo! Maps directions that Annie’s Treo was suggesting had us heading toward the Marine Base instead of toward the water where our timeshare is located.
Pulling up to camp Pendleton had me face to face with four BDU-wearing Marines. I guess it was a checkpoint of some sort but I didn’t realize this because there was a traffic light about 30 yards beyond where the Marines were standing. I couldn’t tell if they were just standing there for the heck of it (there was no cliché little booth or anything like the kind that you see in movies.) So I ended up pulling a little past them and stopping short when they virtually pulled their M-16s on me. (I exaggerate! They weren’t armed.)
But one thing is for sure; our U.S. Marines are very intimidating! (Good for them!)
The timeshare is not as nice as the one in Windsor, believe it or not. The facilities are not as good here in San Diego as they are in Santa Rosa. Go figure.
Nevertheless we’re having a good time and Winston made some homemade French bread pizza for us and I did a quick grill job on some steaks. I didn’t plan to do so so we’ll have to do without my special marinade.
Tomorrow is Legoland. I’m bringing my Sony FX1 so I’ll have some fun 16:9 footage I plan on posting online for you to enjoy. Stay tuned. If this place’s internet connection is as difficult to deal with as it seems it is, you may have to do without video coverage but just make do with photos. :-(
